A Quick Overview Of Cutting Boards

by Mary T. Decker on Feb.01, 2010, under Health

Cutting boards come in a wide variety of sizes and styles. The well equipped kitchen will have more than one, and the needs of the cook will determine which one to use.

Small plastic cutting boards that measure about 5″ x 8″ are handy for slicing a tomato or onion, or for chopping an egg for tuna salad. They clean up easily, do not take up much room in the dishwasher or cabinet, and are inexpensive to purchase. These are one of the most versatile types of cutting boards and are the favorite of many cooks.

Wood cutting boards come in all different sizes and were once the standard for virtually all kitchens. Also called butcher blocks, they have become less popular in recent years due to fears of cross-contamination and the spread of salmonella or e-coli. While it is true that it is difficult to thoroughly disinfect wood cutting boards, new products have appeared on the market that can kill bacteria without damaging the wood. Wood cutting boards should be sealed, and you might want to discontinue their use if the varnish is worn or if deep cuts in the wood are present. Butcher block cutting boards are the only kind recommended for use with a meat cleaver, as other types cannot take the punishment.

Folding cutting boards are handy for adding your chopped foods directly to another container. They are available in many different sizes, and are perfect for chopping vegetables for a stew and then adding them to the pot without spilling. Most styles are made of a flexible plastic that lets it bend and then quickly return to shape.

Actual Day Photography In Singapore

by Ray Wong on Jan.21, 2010, under entertainment

The wedding couple are the two most important people on a wedding day. Points On Choosing An Event Photographer

by Albert Frank on Dec.31, 2009, under entertainment

There are many corporate events, such as the visit of an important client, or a big symposium, for which you need to capture the happenings in form of images. This is where event photographers play an important role.

Photography for an event is an entirely distinct skill, as compared to other forms of this art like landscape photography or fashion photography. This is primarily because events happen fast and the photographer has hardly any control over the proceedings. The work involved in shooting an event asks for familiarity and professionalism on part of the photographer and not everyone can do a good job at it. Most importantly, there are no repeat shots for an event photographer.

Quite obviously, you have to be aware of several aspects while choosing an event photographer to cover a company occasion. Ability to manipulate the camera so that it functions properly indoors is necessary, because most corporate venues do not have any natural light. You should also make sure that the photographer does not carry a bad quality camera with poor resolution or lack of adaptability to lesser light.

You must not go for an amateur for an event of any importance. There are many pros out there to pick from. You must have a look at the previous work of the photographer and his familiarity with capturing similar occasions in the past. A good agency should also be able to provide customer feedback on past work.
